Bechtel Completes Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project Amid Global Energy Disruptions
Bechtel, one of the largest contractors by revenue in the US, has achieved substantial completion on its Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 3 Project in Gregory, Texas. The milestone marks a significant achievement for Bechtel, which began working on the project's third stage in 2022.
The project expands Cheniere Energy's LNG production capacity by over 20% to approximately 56 million tonnes per annum. This is not Bechtel's only project with Cheniere - in May, the contractor won a $4.69 billion contract to expand Cheniere's Sabine Pass plant in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.
The completion of this project comes amid broader geopolitical conflicts that have disrupted the global energy trade. The war in Iran has affected the ability of oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, according to CNBC.
