Bessent Links Ukraine to Rising Oil Prices
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent blamed Ukraine for causing high oil prices by attacking Russian energy targets.
Bessent's comments may serve as a warning to Kyiv, which has relied on US military equipment to counter Russia's nearly five-year invasion.
The Treasury Secretary said that 'Ukraine has decided that they want to blow up Russian energy assets and refined products. So that is creating upward price pressure on a global basis.'
The average national gasoline price has risen to $4.12 per gallon, up nearly a dollar from one year ago.
