BHP Copper Surge Drives Record-Breaking Dividend Payout
BHP has kicked off its new era under CEO Brandon Craig on a high note, delivering impressive first-year results that have sent shares soaring.
The mining giant reported a 15% surge in full-year revenue to $58.76 billion and a 30% increase in underlying profit to $13.2 billion, exceeding analyst expectations.
Copper proved to be the star performer, generating 54% of BHP's group EBITDA with margins reaching approximately 70%. Realised copper prices jumped 35%, while a 6% reduction in unit costs across major assets further strengthened profitability.
The company also announced a significant shareholder return, declaring a final dividend of $0.99 per share and a full-year payout of $1.72 per share, up 57%. Net debt declined to just $8.7 billion, giving BHP greater flexibility to fund expansion while maintaining shareholder distributions.
