BHP's Copper Surge: Commodity Prices and Earnings Growth Drive Record Profit
BHP has reported a significant increase in underlying attributable profit to US$13.2 billion in FY26, driven by higher commodity prices and earnings growth.
Copper became the largest contributor to group underlying earnings for the first time, generating around 54% of underlying earnings.
The company's copper division generated roughly US$18.2 billion of EBITDA at a margin of around 70%, with realised copper prices increasing by approximately 35% year on year to about US$5.74 per pound.
