Bintulu Port Sees Cargo Throughput Growth in 2026 Driven by LNG and Bulk Cargoes
Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd has expressed optimism about its business outlook, expecting cargo throughput to grow in 2026. The company's revenue rose 10.6% to RM215.6mil for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, mainly due to stronger port services activities at Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd.
The handling of liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes and vessel calls will remain a key revenue contributor for the group. LNG and other liquid bulk cargoes handled at Bintulu Port and Samalaju Port are expected to drive growth in cargo throughput.
However, despite the revenue increase, net profit fell 14.6% to RM29.7mil or earnings per share of 6.45 sen for the quarter. This decline was due to higher operating expenses offsetting the revenue gain.
