Bio-Acetone Breakthrough Boosts Ethanol Revenue
Lallemand Biofuels & Distilled Spirits and Braskem have announced a new bio-acetone production platform for the corn-ethanol industry. This innovative technology enables producers to generate a new coproduct alongside ethanol, providing a new revenue stream while maintaining ethanol production performance.
The solution combines Lallemand's proprietary fermentation technology with Braskem's bio-acetone recovery process. This partnership has been five years in the making and is now available to the U.S. ethanol industry.
Braskem will be responsible for all bio-acetone sales and market development, while Lallemand provides the yeast strain that enables bio-acetone production during fermentation without affecting performance.
