Global wheat prices have risen as disruptions at Black Sea ports limit Ukraine and Russia's ability to export grain. Attacks on port infrastructure and civilian vessels have forced a suspension of shipments from these countries, prompting global buyers to seek alternative sources.

The electronic grain exchange reported a moderate speculative increase in wheat quotations over the week, with contracts for hard winter wheat in the US posting significant gains.

September futures prices rose across leading exchanges: soft red winter (SRW) wheat on the Chicago exchange increased by 5.4% to $248/t; hard red winter (HRW) wheat in Kansas City gained 6.3% to $278.8/t and rose 4.7% over the month.

The USDA forecasts a decrease in wheat exports from Ukraine and Russia, with local analysts projecting an even steeper drop in shipments.
