Black Sea Grain Disruptions Threaten Global Feed Shortage

The Black Sea region has become a hotspot for grain trade disruptions due to ongoing attacks between Russia and Ukraine. Since July, the area has seen significant damage to key grain terminals and commercial shipping.

Russian grain exports have plummeted, with SovEcon forecasting an export of 2.2 million tonnes in August 2026, compared to 4.6 million tonnes in August 2025. This decline may lead to a global shortage of grains for feed production.

Ukraine is facing a grain glut, which could worsen the situation if exports are further restricted. The disruptions at the Black Sea have already caused delays and increased costs for farmers and global buyers.
