Black Sea Grain Export Terminals Restrict Truck Deliveries Amid Rising Risks
Russia's major grain export terminals on the Black Sea have restricted grain deliveries by truck due to rising shipping risks in the region. The three affected terminals, NZT and KSK in Novorossiysk and ZTKT in Taman, can ship more than 20 million tons of grain annually.
The restrictions come after Ukraine attacked several Russian grain vessels on the Sea of Azov route, which handles about a quarter of Russia's grain exports. As a result, authorities redirected grain from southern regions to deep-sea terminals in the Black Sea by truck and rail.
However, attacks on Black Sea ports have also increased, making deliveries by road more challenging. 'The risks have increased, and there are fewer and fewer people willing to take bold, reckless risks,' said one source.
