Black Sea Tensions Fuel US Grain Market Rally
US grain markets have surged this week due to escalating tensions in the Black Sea region. The Chicago SRW wheat futures led the rally, gaining 35 cents for the week ending August 14, 2026.
The soybean and corn contracts also rose, with soybeans finishing up 16.25 cents on their November contract and corn gaining 21.25 cents on its December contract. The national average cash bean price increased alongside these gains.
The livestock market faced significant downward pressure, however, as major plant shutdowns weighed on industry sentiment. Tyson announced plans to shut down two plants and sell another facility, contributing to a sharp decline in market prices.
