Blakeman and Hochul Clash Over Energy Solutions in NY Governor's Race

New York's gubernatorial candidates, Bruce Blakeman and Kathy Hochul, are vying to address the state's rising energy costs. According to public polling, 72% of New Yorkers feel utility prices have a serious impact on their financial condition.

Blakeman advocates for tapping into natural gas resources through hydraulic fracturing (fracking), which he claims will lower costs by reducing commodity gas prices.

Hochul has focused on renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and hydro power, as well as nuclear power. However, environmental experts argue that fracking wouldn't necessarily be a cost-effective solution, citing high infrastructure and pipeline costs, as seen in neighboring Pennsylvania.
