Bozhong 19-6 Gas Field Enters Full Operation
China has reached a significant milestone in its energy production with the full operation of the Bozhong 19-6 gas field, located in the Bohai Sea. The project's first phase has exceeded expectations, producing over 5,200 tonnes of oil and gas per day.
The Bozhong 19-6 gas field is China's largest offshore gas field in the east, with proven geological reserves of more than 200 billion cubic meters of natural gas and over 200 million cubic meters of oil liquids. The field is buried at depths of over 5,000 meters, making its development particularly challenging.
The project's commissioning is seen as a crucial step towards optimizing the regional energy structure and supporting high-quality economic and social development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Bohai rim area. The full operation of the first phase will help meet the energy needs of local residents and industrial production, particularly during the peak summer demand period.
Drilling operations for the second phase have been fully launched, with expectations that it will further strengthen the role of offshore oil and gas resources in supporting China's domestic energy supply.
