BP Aims to Boost Kirkuk Oil Output to 420k Barrels per Day
BP has announced plans to increase oil production at its Kirkuk fields in northern Iraq from 320,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 420,000 bpd. This is part of a broader development project that aims to reach peak output within the target timeframe.
The project includes rehabilitating and developing the oilfields, expanding facilities for the Northern Gas Company, constructing a power station, and implementing social welfare projects. BP's efforts will also focus on absorbing local labor and developing technical capacity at the North Oil and Northern Gas companies.
One of the key goals of the project is to eliminate continuous gas flaring by utilizing produced gas as fuel for power stations. This will not only contribute to economic benefits but also reduce environmental impact.
