BP Atlantis Expansion Project Kicks Off with New Wells
BP has begun operating its Atlantis Major Facility Expansion project in the U.S. Gulf of America, according to an announcement by TradeArabia News Service. The Atlantis platform, located approximately 150 miles south of New Orleans, has been producing oil for nearly two decades.
The expansion introduces two new subsea water injection wells designed to boost pressure in targeted reservoirs and unlock additional crude production. Andy Krieger, senior vice president for the Gulf of America and Canada, stated that Atlantis has been a cornerstone of the company's Gulf operations for close to 20 years.
The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, with an anticipated addition of roughly 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of gross peak annualized average production. Approximately 5,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day will be net to BP.
