BP Beats Schedule with Early Production at Egypt's Fayoum 4 Gas Well

BP has accelerated natural gas production in Egypt by bringing the Fayoum 4 well online nearly two years ahead of schedule. The well is contributing approximately 80 million cubic feet per day (cf/d) of natural gas to Egypt's domestic market, strengthening local supply at a time when the country is seeking to expand oil and gas output.

The early start-up aligns with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources' strategy to increase domestic hydrocarbon production, speed up the development of discoveries, and bring new wells into operation as quickly as possible. Wail Shaheen, President of BP Egypt, said the early start-up demonstrates BP's continued cooperation with the ministry's plans to accelerate development activities.

BP has focused on maximizing existing offshore infrastructure while deploying advanced technologies to increase natural gas production. The company achieved the accelerated schedule by streamlining project execution and utilizing infrastructure already available offshore.
