bp Boosts Production at Atlantis Field with Expansion Project
bp has kickstarted its Atlantis Major Facility Expansion project in the Gulf of Mexico, boosting production at one of its long-standing fields. Located approximately 150 miles south of New Orleans, the Atlantis field has been operational for nearly two decades.
The expansion aims to increase reservoir pressure and extend the field's operating life, adding around 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in gross peak annualized production. Two new subsea water injection wells, along with new subsea trees and topside water injection pumps, will help maintain reservoir pressure and unlock additional oil production.
bp expects the expansion to add approximately 5,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in net production to the company. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, a testament to bp's operational efficiency.
