The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) is working with BP to bring the 'Fayoum North-4' well in the Mediterranean Sea into production soon.

This project aligns with MoPMR's strategy to increase domestic natural gas production, maximize existing infrastructure, and reduce reliance on imports.

The 'Fayoum North-4' well is expected to produce approximately 80 million cubic feet of natural gas per day, which will help meet domestic demand, reduce import costs, and strengthen Egypt's energy security.

BP achieved this milestone through a successful sidetrack drilling operation that brought the well back into production from new reservoir layers without drilling a new well. This innovative approach showcases how engineering can deliver extra output quickly and cost-effectively, maximizing existing wells' reserves and infrastructure utility.
