Brazil Agribusiness Exports Defy Geopolitical Tensions with Strong Growth
Brazil's agribusiness sector has continued to grow in the first half of 2026, despite geopolitical tensions affecting global logistics and production costs. The country's farm sector remains strong on the production side, with a record-breaking grain crop in 2025/26 and an expected large coffee harvest in 2026/27.
However, Brazilian agribusiness exports have faced obstacles from outside the farm gate, including higher freight costs, global logistics disruptions, and U.S. tariff policy. Despite these challenges, dollar revenue from Brazilian agribusiness exports reached $87 billion in the first half of the year, up 6.2% from the same period in 2025.
The growth was driven mainly by sales to China, India, the European Union, and Gulf countries. The average dollar price fell 1.2%, while shipments rose 7.5%. Soybean oil led the way with a 30% increase in volume, followed by corn at 22% and beef at 15%.
