Brazil Trade Surplus Reaches $7.1 Billion as Oil Prices Surge
Brazil's exports rose 6.2% in value despite a 4.3% drop in volume, while imports increased 7.6% as average prices climbed.
The trade surplus for July was $7.1 billion, bringing the year-to-date total to $49 billion.
According to José Augusto de Castro, president of the Brazilian Foreign Trade Association (AEB), price dynamics largely reflect the impact of oil prices, which surged after the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East and have fluctuated since then with spillover effects across other products.
