Brazilian Agribusiness GDP Falls as Crop Revenues Dip
Brazil's agribusiness GDP fell by 2.01% in the first quarter of 2026, according to Cepea and CNA. This decline was mainly driven by crop agriculture, which contracted by 3.62%. However, livestock grew by 0.70% during this period.
The drop in agribusiness GDP early in the year was largely due to lower real prices received by producers. Despite higher production for major commodities like coffee, sugarcane, and soybeans, weaker prices offset these gains. Crops such as cotton, rice, coffee, sugarcane, oranges, corn, soybeans, and wheat contributed significantly to this negative price effect.
The primary livestock segment also declined by 1.77%, although production is expected to grow across all monitored activities, especially poultry and pork, lower prices reduced the overall value of production.
