Brazilian Farmers Get Boost from New Corn and Soybean Processing Plants
Farmers in southwestern Goiás are optimistic about their prospects for the upcoming harvest season. The region has seen a below-average crop yield in the previous year, but new industrial facilities have been built to process corn and soybeans.
Inpasa, Latin America's largest corn ethanol producer, has invested R$2.5 billion in a new facility in Rio Verde that will begin operations by the end of 2026. The plant will have an annual capacity to process 2 million tonnes of corn and produce 1 billion liters of ethanol.
Comigo, another major soybean-crushing company, has invested R$1.5 billion to double its crushing capacity starting in 2027. The new facility in Palmeiras de Goiás will be able to process up to 11,500 tonnes of soybeans per day, with a storage capacity for up to 3 million bags.
