Brent Crude Drops Amid Escalating US Economic Pressure Campaign Against Iran
Brent crude plummeted 1.87% to $92.63 on Monday as Washington's economic pressure campaign against Iran escalated.
This decline follows last week's rally, where both Brent and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained more than 5% due to heightened rhetoric from the Trump administration.
In a recent opinion piece published in the Financial Times, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described an 'economic D-Day' beginning at dawn, targeting Iran's economy and isolating the country internationally.
The measures already in force include the freezing of over $130 million in crypto tied to Iran by the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in July.
