Oil prices continued their downward trend on Wednesday as investors await the outcome of US-Iran talks. The Brent crude futures price fell by $0.92, or 1.2%, to $78.44 per barrel by 0330 GMT.

The decline marks a drop of more than 12% during the week so far, with Brent crude closing over 5% lower on Tuesday and dropping below $80 per barrel for the first time since July 13.

Phillip Nova's Head of Market Insights Priyanka Sachdeva noted that markets have removed the immediate geopolitical risk premium from oil prices. However, she warned that supply concerns still require caution, stating that if diplomatic efforts fail and supply disruptions occur, oil prices could recover quickly.
