Oil prices continued to hold firm on Thursday, with Brent crude futures inching down by just 0.1% to $101.10 a barrel.

The latest dip comes as Iran and the US launched their largest attacks on shipping since their six-month-old conflict began.

Brent prices have surged nearly 30% from lows touched in early August, with traders bracing for deeper supply disruptions.

ANZ analyst Daniel Hynes noted that the tit-for-tat attacks suggest oil flows from the Persian Gulf are likely to remain disrupted for the foreseeable future.
