Brent Crude Plummets to Near Three-Week Low Amid Global Energy Market Volatility
The global benchmark oil price, Brent, experienced a significant decline on August 3, falling below $82 per barrel for the first time since mid-July. The price dropped to $82 per barrel at around 1:00 AM Moscow time, representing a 6.74% decrease from the previous session.
This marked one of the strongest declines in weeks and was the lowest price since July 13. However, just about 10 minutes later, Brent oil prices recovered slightly, reaching $82.89 per barrel. Nevertheless, this price still reflected a 5.73% decline compared to the previous session.
Brent is widely regarded as one of the most important crude oils in the world and serves as a reference price for most international oil trading contracts. Its fluctuations can have far-reaching impacts on fuel prices, transportation costs, inflation, and economic growth prospects.
