Brent Crude Prices Crash as US-Iran Pause Raises Hopes for Hormuz Shipping Reopening
Brent crude prices plummeted over 5% on Monday as the United States and Iran paused their attacks, sparking hopes of a diplomatic resolution to the conflict that has disrupted global oil shipping routes.
The pause in hostilities followed two weeks of escalating tensions between the US and Iran, which had raised concerns about the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for global oil shipments.
According to Kpler, fewer than 10 commodity vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz daily during the weekend, despite the pause in attacks.
The decline in Brent crude prices reflects growing expectations that a diplomatic solution could reduce the risks to global oil supply and shipping.
