Brent Crude Surges Above $100 as Middle East Tensions Escalate
Brent crude futures surged above $100 a barrel on Wednesday for the first time since July 24, as tensions in the Middle East escalated. The move reflects concerns over oil supplies and potential disruptions to global markets.
Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank, noted that Brent's rise is 'reflecting a market that increasingly has to change its view on how long the Middle East crisis will continue to curb supply from the region.'
Since Iran's war with Saudi Arabia began in February, Brent crude futures have surged as high as $126.41 per barrel.
The recent attacks by Iranian-backed Houthis on Saudi energy facilities set oil installations ablaze and threaten a significant expansion of the conflict.
