Brent Crude Surges Past $100 Amid Geopolitical Tensions
Brent crude futures briefly reached $101.91 per barrel during the European session on September 10, nearing its previous high set in July.
ING Groep analysts Warren Patterson and Eva Manthey pointed out that Brent crude broke above $100 per barrel for the first time since July due to persistent geopolitical risks in the Persian Gulf and the lack of a credible path toward de-escalation in U.S.-Iran tensions.
The analysts highlighted upside risks stemming from potential disruptions to traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that crude purchasing behavior in Asia is crucial to the sustainability of the current rally.
