Brent Crude Tops $100 Amid Escalating West Asia Tensions
Oil prices surged on Thursday as renewed conflict in West Asia fueled fears of supply disruptions. Brent crude topped $100 a barrel for the first time since May 15, 2026, after climbing 6.16% to $100.23.
The rally was attributed to escalating geopolitical tensions in the Red Sea and concerns over fresh disruptions to oil exports from the Gulf.
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for September delivery rose 5% to $91.05 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX).
Crude futures in India jumped nearly 6% amid concerns over the security of key energy shipping routes, reflecting the global rally.
