Brent Crude Tops $106 as Middle East Tensions Escalate
Oil prices surged on Thursday, with Brent crude futures rising to $106.51 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate climbing to $101.10 a barrel.
The sharp increase comes as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate, with Iran and the United States launching their largest wave of attacks on shipping since their conflict began six months ago.
US President Donald Trump warned that the United States could target Iran's 'Peak Axe' mountain, urging Tehran to be careful, and said the war was likely to continue beyond the US midterm elections in November.
