Brent Crude Tops $110 as West Asia Crisis Deepens
Brent crude oil prices surged past $110 per barrel as tensions in West Asia continue to escalate. The conflict has raised concerns over oil supplies and inflation in India, putting pressure on the rupee and equities.
The benchmark Brent crude price touched $110 a barrel in early trade on September 11, 2026, before easing later in the day. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) also traded above $100 a barrel.
In India, the impact of higher crude oil prices is being felt from two sides: expensive oil and a weaker rupee. Aamir Makda, commodity and currency analyst at Choice Broking, said that rising international oil prices force domestic refiners to increase their foreign currency reserves, driving up costs.
Ruchit Thakur, market analyst at VT Markets, warned of further risk-off moves if the conflict persists. VK Vijayakumar, Geojit Investments, cautioned that sustained prices above $118-$120 would likely require a significant and prolonged supply shock.
