Brevard County Backs LNG Plan at Kennedy Space Center

Brevard County Commissioners have approved a letter supporting the development of liquefied natural gas infrastructure at Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral. This decision comes after previous proposals for LNG facilities were rejected due to safety, noise, and proximity concerns.

The previous proposal for an LNG facility at Port Canaveral was voted down in March, with Commissioner Micah Loyd citing odor and noise concerns. A similar plan for a liquefied natural gas plant on Merritt Island was scrapped after complaints from nearby residents.

The new letter of support is addressed to the leadership of Kennedy Space Center and Space Launch Delta 45. Brevard County Commission Chairman Thad Altman stated that this decision would keep collection and production onsite, rather than outside the Space Center.
