BSE SENSEX Falls 0.49% as Crude Oil Rally Weighs on Sentiment
The BSE SENSEX closed Tuesday's session down 388.19 points, or 0.49%, at 78,154.25, reversing gains posted in the previous session due to rising crude oil prices and weakness in financial and metal stocks.
Rising Brent crude prices toward $84.5 a barrel amid uncertainty over the Strait of Hormuz weighed on sentiment, with India being one of the world's largest crude importers.
The Nifty 50 index declined in tandem, falling 112.10 points, or 0.46%, to close at 24,471.70, while market breadth remained negative throughout the session.
