Bulgaria Reaps Record Wheat Harvest, Corn Yields Forecast to Double
Bulgaria has reaped its second consecutive record wheat harvest, reaching an impressive 7.4 million tonnes this year.
Despite a 7% reduction in the area sown, the country's high yield of 6.3 t/ha, which is 9% higher than last year and 12% higher than the 5-year average, contributed to the record harvest.
Bulgaria ranked second in the EU after Romania in terms of yield growth compared to the 5-year average.
The country's corn harvest is also expected to be good, with yields forecast to almost double compared to last year and reach 5.5 t/ha, which is 29% higher than the 5-year average.
