Bulgarian Natural Gas Price Rises 5.5% in September
The Bulgarian Energy and Water Regulatory Commission has approved a natural gas price of €41.60 per megawatt-hour for September, excluding access and transmission charges, excise duty, and VAT.
This represents a 5.5% monthly increase from August's price of €39.43/MWh set by state-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz.
Despite the rise in prices, Bulgarian consumers will still pay significantly less than international market rates due to competitive pricing on natural gas supplied from Azerbaijan.
The September supply mix includes a combination of gas under Bulgaria's long-term contract with Azerbaijan and liquefied natural gas purchased through a tender procedure.
