Bulgaria's Gas Price Increases 5.5%, Remains Below European Market
Bulgaria's natural gas price has been set at 41.60 euros per megawatt-hour for September, after a 5.5% increase from August.
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission approved the new rate, which will be applied to end suppliers and companies licensed to produce and transmit heat energy.
Bulgaria's gas price remains more than 30% below current futures prices on international gas exchanges, with consumers paying nearly 25 euros per megawatt-hour less than the market price.
The regulator stressed that while the September price represents another increase for Bulgarian consumers, it provides some protection from the broader rise in European gas prices.
