Bunian Oil Discovery Exceeds Expectations in Indonesia
Bass Oil (ASX:BAS) has confirmed a significant oil discovery at its Bunian field in Indonesia, exceeding pre-drill expectations. The M sand reservoir produced an initial flow rate of 2,400 barrels per day during a short clean-up flow, with no water recovered.
This represents the first oil pay from this zone in the Bunian field, although it is the primary producing zone in the adjacent Tangai oil field. Subsequent testing on the M zone produced 1,264 barrels per day over three hours at a reduced choke and flowing pressure of 415psi, with no water recovered.
The discovery is expected to boost Indonesian oil production from 250 barrels to at least 750 barrels per day on a 100% share basis. A production testing program will now commence to confirm reservoir parameters for all three oil zones and aid in selecting which zone to produce first.
