Búzios Field Sets New Records for Natural Gas Exports in Brazil
The Búzios field in Brazil has set two new records for natural gas exports. In July, the field averaged 10.8 million cubic meters per day (m³/d), surpassing its previous monthly record of 9.1 million m³/d from March 2026. The daily export record was also broken on August 6th with a total of 14.1 million m³/d.
The field's growth can be attributed to the commissioning of Route 3 and the implementation of new projects, which have sustained continuous gas exports since July 2024. The average daily export at that time was 4.7 million m³/d.
Petrobras President Magda Chambriard stated that consistent investments in increasing production are necessary to reduce gas prices, not changes in ownership.
The optimization of existing units has led to significant gains, with the modernization program for gas treatment plants on the P-74, P-75, P-76, and P-77 platforms increasing export capacity from 1.5 million m³/d per platform to 3 million m³/d. The FPSO Almirante Barroso also contributes to the results.
