Byron Seeks Turnaround at Iowa Speedway
NASCAR's William Byron is heading to Iowa Speedway with renewed confidence after a week off. The driver of the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet has yet to post a win this year, but he's looking forward to Sunday's Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol. Byron won at Iowa last year and also took victories in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series and O'Reilly Auto Parts Series there.
The 28-year-old driver is currently 12th in the Cup Series standings, but he has a comfortable 88-point lead over the current cut line for the Chase. Byron believes that having time off and returning to Iowa gives his team confidence in their abilities. He's the only driver to have won twice in the last 10 short-track races.
The NASCAR Cup Series will be racing under new stage break procedures for the rest of the season, which will affect Sunday's race at Iowa Speedway. If a caution falls within 10 or fewer laps prior to the end of Stage 1 or Stage 2, the stage will be deemed official at the time of caution.
