Gas prices in California continue to fluctuate, with the average price of regular gasoline jumping five cents to $5.63 per gallon over the past week.

The national average, however, remains at $4.09 per gallon, down one cent from last week.

Crude oil prices remain volatile, trading in the $80 per barrel range due to ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to AAA Mountain West Group's Doug Johnson, August is poised to set a new record as the most expensive month at the pump, surpassing the previous August record set in 2022.
