California Gas Prices Skyrocket Amid Iran War
The ongoing Iran war has sent shockwaves through global oil markets, driving up prices and putting California's gasoline supply under pressure.
Cheaper than anywhere else in the US, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in California is $6.13-36% higher than the national average, according to AAA data.
Elected officials in the state have warned of a potential oil and gas shortage that could push prices up even further.
California retains enough gasoline for six weeks' worth of demand, but beyond that, supply will be strained, said Siva Gunda, vice chairman of the California Energy Commission.
