Gas prices continue to rise in California and Nevada, despite remaining steady at $4.09 nationally. The California state average increased by seven cents from last week to $5.64, while Nevada's rose 12 cents to $4.81.

Aldo Vazquez of AAA Mountain West Group noted that August may bring some relief as road trips wind down and families adjust to fall routines. However, elevated crude oil prices could delay this shift.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a slight increase in gasoline demand last week, from 8.94 million to 9.04 million barrels per day. Total domestic gasoline supply remained flat at 211.3 million barrels.
