California Passes Bill to Allow Year-Round Sales of Higher Ethanol Blends
California has passed Senate Bill 795, known as the 'E15 Clean-Up Act', which clears the path for year-round state sales of higher fuel blends of corn-based biofuel.
The bill unanimously passed late Monday, and now goes to Governor Gavin Newsom for his signature. Expansion in California, the country's second-largest gasoline market after Texas, has been a top goal of ethanol producers.
A state law enacted last year allows year-round availability of 15% ethanol blends (E15) with gasoline, but sales still haven't started due to technical issues.
