Cameroon's Export Revenue Plunges Amid Cocoa, Oil Slump
Cameroon's first-quarter exports fell by CFA187.1 billion to CFA606.9 billion, down from CFA794 billion a year earlier, according to the National Economic and Financial Committee (CNEF). The decline was driven primarily by cocoa, crude oil, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.
Cocoa revenue fell 37.7% to CFA199.3 billion from CFA319.9 billion a year earlier, with global cocoa prices plummeting 60%. Crude oil export revenue declined 14.4% to CFA152.4 billion, despite higher international prices of $103.70 per barrel in March 2026.
LNG export revenue dropped 28.4% to CFA59.9 billion, while other sectors such as wood and wood products, raw rubber, coffee, and aluminum also weakened.
