Canada Unveils $Tens of Billions in Projects to Lure Global Investors
Canada is set to woo some of the world's largest investors with a pitchbook showcasing tens of billions of dollars' worth of projects across various sectors. The document, seen by Bloomberg News, features 167 initiatives in areas such as data centers, advanced manufacturing, liquefied natural gas, ports, and mining. These include a potential $10.5 billion data-center campus in Alberta and a multibillion-dollar battery plant backed by Volkswagen AG.
The projects are aimed at attracting investment from major players like BlackRock Inc. and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund during Prime Minister Mark Carney's Canada Investment Summit next week. The brochure highlights the potential for minority equity stakes in companies such as Telesat Corp., a Canadian satellite operator, and advanced manufacturing technology with defense applications.
The document also touts 'Canada's first uranium refining and conversion facility in more than 40 years' and numerous clean energy businesses pursuing technologies like carbon capture and hydrogen. The government aims to catalyze $1 trillion in total investment over the next five years through its agency, Invest in Canada.
