Canada's CCUS Sector Enters Decisive Phase Ahead of Carbon Capture Canada 2026
The Canadian carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) sector is entering a decisive phase of implementation. Key policy, commercial, and investment choices will define its future trajectory in the lead-up to Carbon Capture Canada 2026.
A trilateral Memorandum of Understanding among Canada, Alberta, and the Oil Sands Alliance regarding the Pathways carbon capture initiative was signed on July 2. This has shifted industry attention from policy ambiguity to execution, commercial frameworks, and capital commitments.
The final agreements for the project are slated for this autumn. Nick Samain, Senior Vice President at dmg events, remarked that the conference's timing is ideal, as it occurs in September, sandwiched between the July Pathways MOU and the anticipated definitive decisions this fall.
