Canada's Central Bank Lags Behind as Global Gold Reserves Shift
The Dutch central bank has moved 86 metric tons of gold out of vaults in Ottawa and New York, citing 'crisis preparedness' due to global instability.
This shift is part of a broader trend among central banks, with France also moving its gold reserves back to Paris earlier this year. The Netherlands' president said the goal was to strengthen the bank's resilience and preparedness, not to shrink the country's overall gold stockpile.
The Bank of Canada has not held any monetary gold since 2016, making it the only G7 country with no bullion reserve.
