Canadian Energy Sector Sees Broad-Based Growth in May

Canada's energy sector experienced broad-based growth in May, with primary energy production increasing by 2.7% from last year to 2.0 million gigajoules.

The growth was driven by higher crude oil output, stronger natural gas exports, and a sharp rise in electricity shipments to the U.S.

Crude oil production rose 9.0% year-over-year to 25.8 million cubic meters, with oil sands extraction increasing by 12.4%

Natural gas production also saw a 2.0% increase to 708.8 million gigajoules, with British Columbia output rising by 9.2%
