Canadian LNG Project Aims to Fuel European Energy Demand
A partnership between Kino Aski Inc and Marinvest Energy Canada Inc aims to develop a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Canada, which will supply Europe with cleaner energy. The proposed facility will have a capacity of 15 million metric tons per annum (MMtpa) and will be powered by renewable energy from Quebec. Feed gas will be supplied by Western Canada and transported via existing and new pipelines to the Port of Baie-Comeau.
The project's joint statement emphasized that it will establish a 'reliable, secure, short-distance energy corridor' between North America and Europe during a period of global energy instability. The facility will meet Europe's demand for cleaner energy supplies by being certified for low methane emissions.
Kino Aski Inc will be the majority owner, while Marinvest Energy Canada Inc will hold minority stakes in the project. This partnership places First Nations at the center of the project's governance and operations.
