CanAsia Energy Sells Canadian Asset for $55M, Plans Shareholder Return and Thai Exploration
Global oil markets are experiencing renewed volatility due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, pushing crude prices higher. Amid this backdrop, CanAsia Energy Corp. (CEC:TSX.V) is executing a strategic pivot by selling its Canadian subsidiary, Andora Energy, for up to CA$55 million in cash.
The sale includes a base price of CA$30 million in cash, with additional contingent payments tied to future milestones and production. Approximately CA$17 million of the proceeds will be distributed to shareholders as a return of capital, equating to roughly CA$0.15 per share based on current outstanding shares.
CanAsia plans to redirect remaining resources toward its historical area of expertise in Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand, where it has accumulated decades of operating experience. The company is participating in the 25th onshore licensing round and may use retained proceeds for exploration and development activities if a concession is awarded.
